Slightly lower carb bread

I thought like let the forum know about what I thought about new Hovis lower carb loaf which is on offer - a slice is - 85 cals , 5.8 protein , 9.8 carb . It did not spike me at all but I thought it tasted a bit sweet, I think my taste buds have changed . I have also tried Kingsmill "thin" which I found nicer. Although it is 16 carbs it is two pieces and again did not spike me . I think that might keep the Kingsmill for an occasional treat so have put in the freezer so do not have too much temptation.. I think the Hovis will go out to feed the birds
I would like to thank this forum for introducing me to Oppo ice cream I found was just as tasty as high carb ice cream ( I tried the chocolate ) It was so nice that feel there must be a catch !.

Hi @dipsydo ..
If this works for you, that's fine .. but with carbs at 9.8 grams per slice (Hovis) or 16grams per 2 slices (Kingsmill Thin), I just wonder whether this is worth it just to have a slice of bread .. and then of course there are the carbs in the spread/butter and the filling to add .. just to have a sandwich. For me, this wouldn't work because I am maintaining 20 to max 30 grams of carbs per day in my LCHF lifestyle
But, different strokes for different folks ..

Thanks for the reviews, I find them so helpful. After I read about Burgen bread on the forum my whole family are converts. Must try this Oppo ice cream you mention, too.

I don't eat pasta or rice or rarely but I do eat whole wheat bread. 1 or 2 small slices with lots of vegetable. I often eat avocado. Walnuts. Flax seeds. Jumbo oats porridge. I walk a lot and do squats and weight training. I've lost 14 kilos over 5 years. I drink wine every week. All my blood work has come back to normal. BG is a bit high. I'm vegan.

Thanks , I am lucky that I can average about 50/60 carbs per day and keep my blood sugar at "normal " level . As I have lost 4 stone (half a stone to go ) in about 7 months so I felt I could try the odd bit of bread and thought I would try the ones at shops which are easy for me to walk to see what "low" carb options are available ( no Lidl within walking distance for their low carb rolls ).
