Are the slices of prepackaged smoked salmon ok

Tesco sliced smoked salmon. I was having for lunch 1 slice spread with full fat Philadelphia and cucumber, I am new to this so just asking advice xxx

Read the packet it comes in - applies to all packaged and labelled product. You are looking for the amount of carbohydrate in the product which is usually expressed per 100g or other such proportionate basis. Avoid product with a high carbohydrate content if this is what you are controlling. If there are more than 10g carbohydrate per 100g of product I tend to stay clear.

I live in Canada and we have a smoked "candied" salmon. It's a little sweet, sometimes with maple syrup. It's nice with cream cheese and pickled onions or capers on a cracker.
Must be a regional thing.

your candied salmon sounds great!
We can get Gravadlax, which is also sweetened, so I guess there are just different versions all over.
The recipe is very easy, and much nicer than the bought stuff, but at 100g of sugar per kilo (2 pounds) of salmon it might seem very sweet, but most of it gets rinsed off.

For gravadlax I use equal amounts of salt and sugar, by volume, and marinate for 12-24 hours without weight.
