So confused and anxious

Hi and welcome @Severe_Needle_phobia
I am concerned like @azure with your weight. That's only just over 7 stone. Have you lost weight recently? Please continue to monitor your blood sugar levels and if they continue to go high I would suggest you need to speak to either your GP or nurse.
Hi hitsme, made big error weight is 100kg not lbs as I posted and will get a chance to read and digest daisy's post tonight , my partner is having a very bad day as brain injury she suffered 4 yrs back often send her into severe anger ,mood swings and depression . Thanks for you post

Hi @Severe_Needle_phobia
Losing weight could have been a sign of Type 1 and with high readings I was concerned.
Sorry to hear about your partner's problems. I do hope they calm down for both of you. Stress does not help blood sugar levels.
My suggestion now is to work on diet, weight loss and exercise. Diet - look at Daisy's post and particularly at reducing carbs, Losing a bit of weight would probably help you but that would depend on what your BMI is as to whether that would be a good idea. You would seem to be active and that should help.

Thanks for your post , my BMI is 26 ,I really need to make time to educate myself on carbs sugars etc , with my partner's health and well being I rarely have a minute of my own time and by the time she gets to sleep I am usually sleeping 5 mins after her .
Due to my own mental health I find it hard to take in and store any infomation I read , maybe there is an audio cd out there , thanks again for your kind words
James

Hello all , this is my first time trying this for advice as I feel as if I'm going crazy.
I only was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 weeks ago and was given glucose machine . I was put on metformin 500mg morning and night and readings are only dow to 16.5 mm1/L, I'm drinking 6 pints of water (mainly after 9pm ) I am trying to keep to diet sheet but my gp and my diabetic nurse are telling me different things I'm aloud . Also nurse increased my dosage two 1000 mg twice daily and my gp then told me I should not be incerased so soon . I am not in anyway putting down the medical profession but I'm scared to eat the wrong thing or take to much or ltitle medication.
I suffer from severe anxiety and depression and feel scared to approach my nurse until next appointment in 2 weeks .
Should I listen to my doctors instructions or diabetic nurse, know it's not an easy question but any Advie at all would be appreciated
I think your doctor is right to say don't increase your Metformin to soon it should be done slowly. Some doctors like mine will say gradually increase it over 6 weeks

Sticking with docs instructions, I'm wondering if I would be aloud breast of chicken curry with boiled rice which we previously had on Friday night? not sure about the ingredients . Have a nice evening

I am sure the curry will be fine with perhaps a smaller portion of rice than usual Don't worry to much about what you are eating at the moment though just let the fact you have T2 sink in first then you can start to tailor your diet to suit you. We are all different so what suits one person does not suit another so no one can really tell you what you can eat or not. Basically it is better to lower the amount of bread pasta rice and potatoes that you eat and of course avoid anything with sugar in and this works for a lot people

Thanks for that , (you made my evening) count it as my weekly treat , having no problems so far sticking with diet sheet as I know what can happen if you abuse diet , my uncle diagnosed 7 years ago more or less put 2 fingers up to it and now regrets it big time as he had to have foot amputated, last June . Take care

That is good progress so well done @Severe_Needle_phobia
Just take things slowly. There is so much to take in and it seems so confusing to begin with. It took me a few weeks to get fasting down that far and a couple of months to get down to under 7 so just keep going. Hopefully you will continue to feel better,

Golly, you have got a lot on your plate, forgive the pun..You're obviously caring for your partner as well as going through major changes yourself.. It's hard, but you have to look after yourself or your won't be able to help her...

There are loads of different forum around, always someone on line and lots of places to just have a wee rant. I'm learning all the time, there's little that these folks haven't come across before, so don't be afraid to share.

Take care

Hi Call
Thanks for your post , I have accepted my T2 but I am determent not two let it ruin me , as i already said in previous posts I'm willing to eat or drink anything that will get my numbers down and then try and keep them stable , it's hard to explain but my partner's brain injury made me a stronger person as I was warned at the time she might not remember family , I was not going to let this happen so for months i talked about life from we met up , went through photo albums and played her favourite music etc .
Now things are a lot bether , I look on this as a long race that Il do all in my power to win by changing whole eating ways .
Due to my partner's mobility I can't get my outdoor 30 min walk so I make use of the stairs and walk about the house to compensate .
Wish you well with everything
James
