Thanks to having joined this informative and very useful site and to all that contribute. I am happy to share that after seeing my diabetic nurse on Thursday I was given the good news that my readings both for sugar and cholesterol are both NORMAL and as a consequence I have had my medication reduced and I am working towards coming off it all in 6 months time. Going on a low carb diet resulted in me losing weight steadily (8'3) and giving me almost consistent readings of 5.4 cholesterol 3.3 and coming from readings of 13.3 and cholesterol 5.5 in January this year I am feeling so healthy and have lost the constant tiredness I experienced at that time. I have a very good diabetic nurse who congratulated me on taking control of my condition of Type 2 and I then told her about this wonderful site and the motivation it gave me when I was out of control. My nurse said that she wished I could share with some of her patients about how I have achieved such a state of being because some of them come over-weight and only want to increase their meds. I have been given more strips to monitor my levels and she was more than happy to enable me to being in control of my low carb diet etc., in this way. Thank you all on here who have enabled me to reach my goal and I hope that my inspires those who have not yet reached their personal goal in the way that others have inspired me. xx PS the info re diet given to me by my nurse when I was first diagnosed (think that was 5 years ago) stated that I had to include carbs with every meal!!
