Hi all, I have been reading all the low carb threads, but just wondering if this is the correct way to follow low carb

No more than 30 grm carbs a day
Can eat fat, cheese, cream etc
3 meals a day

I am desperate to lose weight too

Thank you x

Low-carb can mean many things to many people, we have members on the forum who say they low-carb when eating between 100-200g of carbs a day, I suppose if your eating below the RDA of carbs then you are technically low-carbing, that said a very low-carb diet (as in a low-carb/high-fat diet) is below 50g a day I believe.

Unfortunately, there aren't really any definitions. Personally, I'd say the practice of avoiding startchy carbs (bread, rice, pasta, potato etc) follows a low carb diet, whereas the practice of eating starchy carbs and eating less than the RDA is a reduced carb diet.

So, if you want to low carb like many of us on here do, then avoid starchy carbs. Replace them with meat and veg.

Nope you wont pile on the fat, eat carbs with fat and you will. Fat is not the demon, its actually the bodies fuel by choice (if it was given it). Good fat tho, coconut oil, butter, olive oil, avocadoes. Proper meat, no processed. Eggs, bacon etc.

Low carb hasn't been boring for me. Before going low carb, I used to have about 4 slices of whole grain bread with different fillings for lunch and that felt like a chore. Pasta was often for dinner and a lot of the time that tasted bland.

On low carb, the carbs have been replaced with more vegetables, more fat and a higher content of meat. I've found it to be a bit more cooking and a bit more expensive to shop for but it's actually a lot more tasty and my HbA1c has stayed comfortably below the 6.5% (48 mmol/mol) target for the last 4 years or so.

I've found low carb to lend itself better to vegetables than a carby diet and that's been a really good thing in terms of taste and health. Try to self prepare things wherever possible as the taste of things like store bought salads is no match for home prepared versions.

Think about all the delicious sauces you can have bearnaise, hollandaise, choron and flavoured butter oohh yummy

Forgot to say - veg that grows above ground - cauli, cabbage, broccoli all with butter on. Berries, and sugar free jelly for an occasional treat, with double cream on.
Expect your cholesterol to go up a bit then it seems to stabilize but don't go taking them nasty statins.
