Got my first set of post diagnosis results earlier today.

Hba1c down from 54 to 42 RESULT!

Cholesterol up from 4.3 to 6.7 OPPS!

Weight down from 118Kg to 102Kg RESULT!

Blood pressure down from 134/96 to 117/78 RESULT!

Given 3 months to get cholesterol under control, so guess I need to cut fat in diet a little.

A big thanks to everyone on the forums who has helped and supported my journey.

What has the GP threatened you with unless you get the cholesterol down? Actively losing weight can mess with cholesterol levels, don't stress about it. Fantastic work on all your new numbers, well done!

Not so fast on the cholesterol. High cholesterol is protective as long as its the right sort!

Check the components - if trigs are low (under 1 ) and HDL is high over 1.6- then I think you are in jackpot territory and no need to change anything ! others have some reference website to look at.

Congratulations on the numbers :)

Thanks I will check it out as the doctor didn't give me a break down.

Congrats, @TazziT. Great job on getting your blood sugars, weight, and blood pressure down. This doesn't happen on its own, I am sure you worked hard for this.

I agree with @Guzzler -- losing weight can raise your cholesterol levels temporarily. Also, I am not sure how meaningful measuring total cholesterol is, unless you also get the breakdown.

Highly unlikely to be necessary
look up Hypo responders and Dave Feldman research

I made some time to listen to the biohackers podcast, I now know how to hack the test next time round. It's crazy that eating between 4200 and 5500 calories of as much satuated fat as you can tolerate and then fast for 14hrs before the blood test willl actually improve all your figures and ratios.

Thank you for pointing me in this direction.

you are welcome.

Basically its all the same message, saturated fats improve HDL and heart disease risk, fasting reduces triglycerides which improve heart disease risk. An LCHF diet including saturated fats will improve your cholesterol results because you will be getting healthier - ie not a hack at all just a better way of life . Dave then enjoys proving how easily one can manipulate the results and especially LDL which is a meaningless marker . The saturated fat you consumed as a result of this approach isn't as such a hack, but more a replenishment of the stuff one needed in the first place !
