Hi all! I am a newly diagnosed diabetic (28th Feb) and I’m 20yrs old! I was admitted to hospital with DKA and BS readings of 23+ and Ketones of 4ish!
I was struggling with my feet before being diagnosed, they would go really hot, sore, sleepless nights uncomfortable everything linking to Neuropathy. I get some relief by putting my feet in cold water! But I can’t keep doing that for the rest of my life!!
Since being diagnosed and on insulin for around 2months now my feet are still not showing much improvement! I’ve constantly spoke to my DSN, also saw my consultant for the first time a few weeks ago and also been to my GP and they have all said the same! “Due to my sugars being so high for a long period of time that they have messed with my nerves but it’s a case of riding through the pain and getting my sugars down, apparently it can take up to 3months for this to happen”
My GP prescribed me some Amitryptiline to take at night to help me sleep! But only been taking it for a few days!
Has anyone else suffered similar cases? And got any advice?
Thanks!
