I dont know if anyone else feels the same but since my sons diagnosis i feel like me and my partner hardly get any time together and as for going out for meals as a family im scared to go as i dont know what my son can have that wont send him high..

When was your son diagnosed? Diabetes is a lot of work, so it's understandable you feel you and your partner haven't had much time to,yourselves. Do you have a trusted family member or friend who could look after your son, even for an hour or two, so you and your partner can go out?
Going out for meals is fine. Do you count carbs and adjust his insulin accordingly?

I know exactly how you feel but it does get easier, I find that looking on the restaurants website before you go to get a general idea of what's there is a good start and either take a carbs and cals book or download the app to work it out when you get there, my daughter was diagnosed last November and I feel like we are only in the last month or so starting to do "normal" stuff, it's worth making sure family members know all the ins and outs of how to deal with diabetes so you and your partner get to spend time together, my husband and me went away for the first time this weekend and it was so good to spend time with him, good luck to you X
