My husband had this sort of heel pain....a chiropodist dug a huge hole in his foot saying it was a corn...a ped expert and gp came up with no answers so I go some insoles off Amazon and the problem disappeared in a week or so. Avoid the kind of insoles with any little gel pads set into the heel as they can become hard and cause even more pain and problems. The arch support is what makes the difference as it realigns your foot so the pressure is more even

View attachment 14310 Friend has given me these as they were unused, so have cut them to size and put them in my slippers for the moment. Thanks again to everyone :)

these look innocuous, but a note of caution, 10 years ago i was in such pain, could hardly walk, that i went to a private place with good credentials, who did not do a scan, made me expensive insoles, and i got worse,. Then my GP got me a scan and other problems were picked up - growths in the tendons - not at all usual, but made worse by the insoles. I got my money back from the firm, but was left with worse problems by the time i got to a NHS consultant

Thanks Gezzabelle, it is throbbing away now. I don't want a huge hole in my foot, had that done in the 1960's as a child, by our GP when I had a veruca, ouch a horrible experience :(

Stabilised with specialist insoles, but problem continues/changes over the years, yearly appts necessary, etc, the normal option of removal of growths not advised due to Type one, (although foot sensation normal foot ops not encouraged), and two other unrelated conditions.....hope your problem turns out to be more easily sorted....

Thank you, I'm sure it will be fine with some Insoles and special related exercises. Take good care.

Thanks, i remember you have one or two of the other conditions i have - eg lichen planus - do you also have hypothyroid disease? undiagnosed /untreated/ not treated enough this can alter the chemistry of the leg muscles - this was what may have been relevant to my problem starting.

Yes, the oral lichen planus, but not thyroid problems, don't have any of the symptoms. I didn't know about undiagnosed thyroid causing muscle problems in the legs :wideyed: quiet surprised by that, but thanks for the heads up) I will Google thyroid conditions.

Thyroid problems can cause muscle pain because the body doesn't use food for energy, it stores it as fat. Hence the weight gain and the muscle pain. No fuel to the muscles.
