Soup!!

Of course you can, depending what is in it though. If there is a lot of potato you might need to count the carbs but most homemade soups with a variety of vegetables and meat in it would not have much carbs.

Entirely up to you what you eat as a snack, you have to keep in mind that if you do eat the soup and have to bolus you then begin to stack your insulin doses which can lead to hypo's (depending upon when you next eat and bolus). Personally I'd rather keep the soup as a main meal for lunch.

I don't do bolus, I've heard that's how insulin pumps work, I just do the injections

"Bolus" is the technical term for the insulin you have before eating :) It can come from a pump, an insulin pen or a syringe.

(You'll see that word a lot here, along with "basal" which is your long acting background insulin)

Ah bless that made me smile:) You are probably in a massive world of confusion at the minute I imagine. This will all start to get a lot clearer for you as the months go on and people here will always do their best to help you.

You should ask about carb counting as soon as possible because that is the main thing that makes a diabetics world turn .You balance your carbohydrate and sugar intake against the insulin you inject (basal (long acting) and bolus (quick acting)) and throw in a bit of exercise as well. It is hard, it is complicated but it makes your life so much easier to manage trust me on this.

Chin up and keep asking the questions, it's the only way to learn.
