Spare Byetta Pen??

Is it advisable to take a spare pen when going on holiday? When I was on Lantus the instructions said to always have a spare pen but have not been given this advice with Byetta. I will be going to Tenerife in September for 2 weeks and am wondering if I should ask GP for an extra pen in the case of problems. The only problem is that my understanding is that after 30 days out of the fridge it will have to be destroyed and that is a lot of money going to waste.

Hi Jude.

Yes. Get an extra pen for your travels. You will have to be careful with the storage while abroad as it mustn't go above 25 deg C. You can put it in a fridge for safe storage, then whilst travelling try and ensure it is always in a cool environment. You can purchase storage bags which are insulated to keep the pen in while on the move.
