I'm new to the forums but I'm a type I diabetic (25+ yrs). I'm pretty fit, I swim everyday, I'm an active BCU kayaking coach (L2) and Mountain Leader (Summer). I'm a volunteer (not paid) but I'm running an event for Diabetes UK Oct for 8-10's. I have spaces still, so if you're interested apply! There's an online application form here:
https://www.diabetes.org.uk/How_we_help/Care-events/Childrens-Events/Lincolnshire-Childrens-Weekend/

Basically, you drop em off and we have lots of fun doing really wild adventurous stuff, zip wires, getting wet, high ropes etc and then you pick 'em up. It's £110 but some bursaries are available (last page of the application).

Your child makes friends with other their same age. They realize they're not the only one who has to do blood tests everyday (and can't afford Libre sensors ;-). They (hopefully) come away with confidence and knowing they're now part of a fun community and can survive without a mobile phone. You can rest assured that they'll be in a safe environment with people who know an awful lot about how to have fun, diabetes or not.

There's also a 11-15 yr event same w/end:
