Specsavers OCT image vs Eye Screening

Hi all,

I had my eyes checked at Specsavers other day - and the dr said my eyes looked well on the 3D eye picture they look at (OCT test?)

I’ve been avoiding going to my diabetic eye screening - worried about the results.

If the Specsavers test show my eyes are good, is the diabetes test likely to be good?

Only way to find out is to go to your diabetic eye screening. Not going because you are worried about what they may find is pointless.
If there is a problem, not knowing about it doesn't make it go away, it just pretty much guarantees that it will get worse because they can't treat it if they don't know about it.
If there is no problem, you are worrying over nothing

Other side of the coin perhaps,

Went for diabetic screening, spotted an issue, a bit of a panic but it turns out it wasn't retinopathy, so advised to see optician

Optician diagnoses issue, forwards images to docs and I get referred to eye hospital for operation

@catinahat is quite right.
The entire idea IS to spot problems as early as possible while they can be rectified.

Opticians are good, but while I don't like the diabetic eye check, I do take full advantage of the fact we get that service.

Nothing worries me as much as losing my sight.

Grateful to get such check ups, as uncomfortable as they can be.

I asked my optician just this question. She said they look for slightly different things, although there is overlap and she will sometimes spot things that the customer seems to be unaware of. If so, she gives people a really strong recommendation to go and get an NHS test, because she can't make a formal diagnosis.

To me that means have both. If there is a problem doing nothing about it won't help, and it's the sort of thing that doesn't just "go away".
