Spike

Hi Evelyn, without the science that spike is fine, it all depends on what you eat, how many carbs (and sugar) and how much you've ate plate size.

Normal is curve, with a gradual rise and then slowly comes down to around 2 hours. A diabetic starts higher than normal and goes higher and comes down to around the same level. That's why we say record before (fasting ) then 2 hours later.
Once you've been recording for a while, you will see a pattern, when you eat the same meal.

Keep asking, keep posting.

The spike should be a little less than that ... at least in my opinion. Great start figure, but you'd probably want to keep the jump down to less than 2 to 2.5. 8.4 is just a tad too much.

The total carbs for the dinner is about 16g and sugar about 4g. So the spike for the 1 hour is too high. So which means I can't take carbs anymore ?

So which means I can't take carbs anymore ?

Some might say that but I would hesitate a bit. I just get the feeling those wraps didn't help you. Does this normally happen to you?

That could tell you something ..... do not eat them ...... but try again with testing in another week if you're willing.

Hi, I had some biscuits about 14g carbs for lunch. Before lunch it was 4.4. 1 hour 6.4, 2 hour 5.7, 3 hour 4.8 is this spike ok ? Can I continue to eat this biscuits?

Try and test again.

Biscuits as a rule are full of carbs and sugar. They are awful for mine.

Your figures look ok though.

Do not get too hung up on spikes into the low 8s. My (normal) wife and daughter see these as well and then come down. If you hadnt had a lot of carbs for a long time you will spike higher for the first few days so as nosher says re-test but those biscuit readings are looking very good.

Thanks Nosher and Andrew. I will retest it again. But definitely the Chinese wrap for dinner was too high.

Hi, I had some rice, vegetables, canned peanuts and some beef for lunch today. Before lunch it was 4.1. 1 hour 6.8, 2 hour 6.1. I didnt have the time to test the 3 hour. Is this spike ok?

Hi today I had 1 slice of bread with peanut butter and 3 pcs of biscuit for lunch. Before lunch it was 5.1. 1 hour it was 8.0, 2 hour it was 7.6, 3 hour it was 6.2. Is it ok?

Yep. Numbers to hope for
