Being new newly diagnosed, you can imagine I have loads of questions, so here's today's
I under stand that everything eaten produces an increase in levels to differing degrees. But at what point is the spike a bad spike? And what constitutes a bad spike.

Anything above 2 mmol/l two hours from where you were pre-meal, is generally unwanted and considered a spike. The higher you are, the more and longer your bloods remain (too) high, damaging eyes, veins, kidneys etc. If it's no more than 2 mmol/l, your body can often still self regulate (or meds can make enough difference). That's how I understood it anyway... But I'm not a doctor.
