Hi there hope you dont mind me picking your brains . Been looking into a pump for my 5 yr old but not sure how we would get on . His currently on 4+ jabs a day . His a very rough and tumble boy climbs trees plays football rugby has swimming lessons always running around climbing ets . IM concerned if he had one he would be constantly pulling the thing out what are your views ? Thanks x x x

I always remove my when I am doing sport due to the free of it getting pulled out as well as the fact the due to the excercise the insulin would cause a hypo. I spuppose it depends on his daily routine which I imagine will be pretty unchanging due to school schedules. So for example you could program it to have a lower basal rate when he has a break and id running around playing so as not to tigger a hypo and this would prevent him having to remove it and possible forgetting to put it back on.

You can remove for about an hour at a time, if longer then you need to top up insulin every hour or so - plug in then bolus - then unplug.
