Sporty Forty.e t

I am back in a wifi zone.

Had a lovely escape for the last week.

Managed to walk a bit in the fresh air and sunshine, (with plenty of rests) managed two trips to swimming pools. Was relieved as had been looking longingly at pools and lochs and rivers. Sadly my skinny dipping days are over. Would not be able to scramble up banks like I once did., and the cold water would probably be the death of me.

I went foraging for blackberries. Small simple pleasure, but priceless, sitting in sunshine between short spells of walking. Watching the season subtly changing from summer to early autumn. The countryside healing ills. Life is good and simple pleasures priceless.

Aw @Pipp you ve made me cry.Honest tears are down my cheeks.
Its not me who's inspirational its all of you.
A lot of us have so many challenges every day, , challenges that I cannot even imagine how difficult life is.
I am really proud of myself with what I have achieved since February but I would not have done it without you all.
I am not great at swimming but I will get better and will practice more. It is good activities and my bum doesn't get numb lol.
I think I now have 5 different activities and might alternate them
*exercise bike
*walking
*cross trainer
*swimming
* little weights , thigh thing and big ball sit on thing ...all of which I have no idea what to do with lol.
The nights are getting darker so in a month or so the evening walk won't be so easy. Wish I had a bigger house so I could have a little gym.
Doh, now you made me cry too!
I feel so relaxed, but I am planning, with a great deal of trepidation, activities for next week.
I am going to follow advice from the health trainer a few weeks ago, and take myself to the gym to asession for disabled people.

Just to have a look, mind you!

By the way, @Jamrox, now you have mastered swimming, (well done) have you considered aqua aerobics, or aqua running? Excellent at burning calories.

Ok, ok, just sayin'

Walked to the shop today (around 20 minutes and gardened yeahhh.I was born in Southport @Pipp .Moved here at 37 .Used to shop in Liverpool all the time .:)

Pipp I have thought about aqua aerobics but its not simple. I need something that I can get to quickly because I work to many hours ...I do save my extra hours up and take them back though.
My daughter worked for 6 years at our main leisure centre until she grew up and saw that the way they treat the young staff is terrible. She started to question things and to cut a long story short because she was on a zero hours contract they stopped giving her any shifts.
So now works at the local school leisure centre and that's where I attempt to swim , they don't have aquarobics there and no way will I ever go to the other centre. I actually hope the bosses at the other one get the karma they deserve.
Going for a walk in the woods with my friend . Its about 4 mile walk but lovely. I love the woods.

It's a beautiful day so i'm off to garden for a few hours .Can anyone recommend a good but CHEAP treadmill?

Just done my 40 minutes walk today. I should have gone this morning because it was too hot.

36 minutes on bike yesterday ( time and song ran out ) so hope generally moving about covers my extra 4 minutes.

So far today I've managed 16 minutes on bike. Hoping to do so e more but my fibromyalgia is playing up this week and I feel like my legs are wading through treacle. Have just done 10 minutes relaxation which helped and may try another one when mr e finishes taping up the bedroom window frame for painting. His swearing and sighing outside the window not conducive to imagining you are all calm and floating on a warm tropical sea.

Sanguine I trained in Hexham years ago. Its lovely around there.
Is the indian still at the railway station it is supposed to be lovely

There is one there yes - and at Corbridge station as well.

Walked from Corbridge to Hexham today, about 4 miles, fairly leisurely 2 hours, got train back.

I walked today, round the supermarket. I know it sounds lame, but it really is an effort for me. It took 25 mins. I have spent the remaining 15 mins doing 'interval training' in the garden. This consisted of stepping, arm lifts, invisible hula hooping, foot paddling, arm rotations, and stretching with resistance bands. We have a high fence, so nobody could see me.

Walked round shopping centre today looking for an outfit to wear to a party in 2 weeks time . Didn't find anything as all winter clothes in shops now and it's still 35 degrees here so will have to have a closer look in my wardrobe for something . Spent the rest of the day at home doing my exercises for my hip every couple of hours as I really want to drive in the next couple of weeks.

Not surprised @Jamrox. I would not go there either. You should be proud of your swimming success. Bet your daughter is proud of you too. Though knowing the daughter / mother relationships you may need to wait some time before she tells you she is.

Connie, the Internet is there for such shopping needs! You will need an outfit for dancing the night away at the party. Your dedication to rehab exercise should stand you in good stead.

Good idea Pipp I will have a browse tomorrow x

Good. You deserve a treat after having surgery. I always shop for clothes online as I just am not able to do the round of the shops. The cost of returning stuff I don't want is usually less than the cost of a day's parking in town.

It is a beautiful part of the world Sanguine. Are you planning to go sight seeing. There are some lovely beaches. Warkworth has a fantastic little shop that sells lovely gifts .
Bamburgh is lovely. Alnwick is too.

Pipp it doesn't sound lame . You were moving.
Maybe your neighbours could join you. Some of my neighbours have joined us:)

Well done Connie , little and often :)

Haha Pipp she said well done but don't know if she really meant it.

Seemed to get away with the Danish pastries . Went for a long walk along Irvine beach just to work off the carbs ..that means I walked 3hrs today in total. I ll sleep tonight lol.

We have a list of places to visit - Durham, Beamish, Cragside, Alnwick, Berwick, ,Lindisfarne, Kielder etc.

We may go to Alnwick and Berwick tomorrow. Lindisfarne will have to wait until next week when the tides are more favourable. We've been to Bamburgh before when we had a cottage near Melrose.

I'll see if I can get some pics up tomorrow.
