Yes that's a very good sign. Don't rush things, just do what the hospital tells you for the moment, it won't be long till you're really up and about. While we're chatting quietly on our own, there's something I want to say to you. You may have noticed that sometimes I skive and don't turn up on this thread for days......do you think you could cover for me when I'm being lazy again? I'm a bit scared of Jamrox. If you create a diversion she's less likely to notice my absence.;)

You have been a good friend so I will do my best and try and create a diversion when you go on the missing list as long as you don't go for too long xx

Now I am back home after my operation I have to exercise every day so do you mind if I join you ?i am only able to do short walks on my Zimmer frame at moment but will do it 5 times a day as I really want to get back to normal.

Great , welcome. Take your time and build it up slowly.
Have to warn you that there are some crazy people on here lol. Only kidding lol
You will get loads of support.

So 25 minutes on the bike and a mad half hour dash round Asda to get shopping done and put away before a friend called in. Bumped into our neighbour who I haven't seen for a bit ( I say neighbour but it is next farm up ) and she asked if I'd been losing weight so it is getting noticeable. That myself to a fake leathery jacket as an incentive to keep going. Can get arms in but long way off zipping so working towards that is my next goal.

I have no idea who @Jamrox can mean.
Anyone that @zand welcomes with such enthusiasm must be worth knowing. So, howdy @connie104. This lot on here got me back exercising after surgery, so you will be in good company.

Hope you have your physio exercises ready. When I started I had to do most exercise sitting down. They have me doing all sorts now.. Well, most days.

Today I did 20 mins Pilates, (before I had even got up), 25 mins rushing round with the vacuum cleaner, and 45 mins swimming. I was wheezy by the time I got to the pool, so swam very, very slowly. Like the sort of person who usually gets on my nerves, but at least I didn't swim in a line chatting to friends, or get in the way by leaning on the pool side. I moved the whole time! Yay! Go me! (I need the encouragement here guys, because I do feel rough still). Will try again tomorrow, because being a slouch does not suit me.

Haha @Pipp you will be proud of me ..Hopefully. my daughter is going to teach me to swim tomorrow. .she has challenged me to learn by the time Im 50 ..so 364 days then ...

Yes, oh yes! Another member of the water brigade. We only need a few more and we will be able to start a synchronised swimming team.

Go, Jamrox! You will love it. Maybe we could do the great Scottish swim together next year?

Pipp this one is huge for me. I hate getting my face wet . My daughter is making an effort so I ll do it ....help lol

Welcome connie

Zand I am watching you!! Anyway skiving in my job ! Take care x

Jamrox fab that your daughter is going to teach you to swim

My return to exercise didn't go too well. I decided to take the dog out, got 5 minutes down the road and it started raining. I thought a bit of rain won't hurt and persuaded hubby to carry on. It was getting heavier and after another 5 minutes it was torrential so we decided to turn back. I turned round and the dog came running up behind me, straight into my legs and I ended up on my back on the floor. I fell on my left wrist, arm and hip. Luckily I don't think anything is broken but it doesn't half hurt and I imagine tomorrow will be worse.

Get decent goggles. I use ones with prescription lenses so I can see where I am going. Get hair tucked up in a swim cap. Believe in yourself, and trust your daughter. It is a wonderful feeling to glide weightless through the water, and you don't get a numb bum!

Ouch! Get checked over just in case!

@aqualung Ouch! I hope it's not hurting as much today x

This morning I went out at 5.30. It was beautiful, chilly and my arms, hands and face were cold.....just how I like it. I walked for 45 minutes

I'm rarely up at that time zand but when I have been I find it nice and peaceful watching the sun coming up, start of a new day and things gradually coming to life...

...hi Connie, good to see a new convert....watch out for Jamrox she keeps us all in check...;)

...loads of rushing around to do at lunchtime today, so that'll count as part of my activities, rest will have to wait till after work...

......aqualung hope you're not too stiff and achy today...a friend of mine took both her dogs out last month, something made them jump, they decided to run, she got unexpectedly jolted and ended up with TWO frozen shoulders, ouch, one was bad enough...

@aqualung hope you aren't too sore today. The cats have a habit of doing that sort of thing in our house, usually when you have a hot cup in your hands. I am quite the expert at the jiggling on one leg and swiveling out of way these days.

@connie104 welcome in. It does keep you motivated being on the thread. Though do watch out for the truants and troublemakers. ;-)
