Squeezing blood out and BG readings

Oh my made the mistake of starting from page 4 reading this post. Im so sorry for wondering what on earth what was being discussed  I have supported people with learning disabilities who had type 1 diabetes who couldn't themselves and we were taught to make sure that the finger was clean ( washed with soap (etc) and rinsed well with water and dried with clean paper towel and if there wasn't a lot of blood forthcoming or the person wasn't a bleeder ( that's not a swear word Andy) to hold hand low to encourage blood to flow down. This seemed to help

Squeezing can hurt. I've never heard of it affecting a reading though. I've been a type 1 for 34 years & what I've found is to squeeze your fingertip for a couple of seconds before you stab. The blood pools so you never have to milk your finger to try to get a sample. I also use the lancet by hand rather than use one of the stabby kits, I find it far more gentle that way

Readings of 6-9 2hrs after eating are okish. Mine are regularly much higher!!!! Its your fasting readings that are the main starting point. If theyre regularly 4-6 you may be ok. Keep a log it does help show what foods affect you most!!
