:( once you start insulin is this for the forseeable future? Been told got fatty liver also. I'm doing my best to avoid sugar at all cost. I was drinking Robinsons no added sugar squash. Stopped that. Not eating bread but protein wraps. Roasted veg. Hummus. turned to all things veggie or plant based. I've got an exercise routine I do everyday but some days can't do it due to pain. But maintain this routine when I am able. Have mobility issues. :( I'm wanting to turn this around...but just feel I've failed so far.

Hi @Pipper4563 ,

Welcome to the forum.

What insulin have you been offered?
I’ll tag in @Lakeslover to say hello. (Who has T2 using insulin.)

Hi @pipper, welcome to the forum,

I’ve been on insulin for over a year now. It’s surprisingly easy to get used to and I haven’t had any problems with it. I’m on Lantus at the moment which is just a once a day long acting insulin.

Sometimes whatever changes you make to your diet it just isn’t enough and there’s no shame in taking insulin if you need it. I was eating only 40g of carbs a day and still couldn’t control my blood sugar before I went onto insulin.

I see you have cut down on sugar, have you cut down on other carbs?

Hello and please do not think you have failed, I was diagnosed type 2 im 2006 put into remission with diet and exercise loosing **** tom of weight etc
eventually it returned very dramatically, I did the metformin and eventually had to go on insulin now on 2 insulins Trujeo the long lasting and Trurapi the rapid acting for meals
It is daunting when you first start but in a few weeks you get used to it, you soon learn to control any problems (or I did)
This is not your fault it just happens talk to your diabetic nurse or Dr about this they are there for that reason
Please ask anything you like on here too, we cant do dosing etc but we can compare to our experiences
do not give up

Hi

I’ve just started a daily dose too

I tried everything under the sun first but hey ho

I don’t know about you but it makes me feel better. How about you?

I’m on lantus twice a day, I don’t take any insulin with meals. When I was taking insulin with meals I put on a lot of weight and I was also continually hungry. My DSN at the time said you will feel much better, I didn’t feel any different but then I didn’t feel unwell to start with!
