Statins & Tendonitis

Since being diagnosed type 2 in July this year the doctor prescribed metformin 3 x 500mg a day and 1 simvastatin each night. (my cholesterol level was 4.6 at the time).

I have been researching both drugs and the statin seems to be one that I should be very wary of. I stopped taking it for a while. But further reading led me to believe that as I only had minor side effects, the benefits outweighed the negatives and started again.

Through my ongoing research I'm getting the feeling that the negatives are begining to outweigh the postitives. In particular regarding tendonitis. Now I have read a lot of information indicating that the medication may cause tendonitis. However, there is very little info out there for someone like myself who already has tendonitis. Will simvastatin make it worse, and if so what would I expected if I continued taking the tablet?

Try taking Co enzyme Q10 as a supliment as the statin (especially simvaststin) will also remove Q 10.

It certainly stopped my problem.

"Since coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and cholesterol are both synthesized from the same substance, mevalonate, statin drugs also inhibit the body's synthesis of coenzyme Q10. This is not a "side effect," of statins, but a direct, inherent function of the drugs."

How will that affect my tendonitis, or will taking Co enzyme Q10 stop Simvastatin from making the tendonitis worse?
