Type 2 Statins?

I was given statins over 15 years ago for high cholesterol. When I moved house I had a new Dr. who took me off them without explanation. Then last year I developed T2.
People are so different.Research is so expensive but obviously there is not enough done to prove one thing or another. So it is good that we can say No.

I took statins for three weeks and found they were affecting me very badly - my mental faculties were going. I had to cancel going to the folk club as I could not carry a tune in a bucket - and I could hardly hear what was said on the phone, which is part of my attempts to earn money. My husband was commenting about my inability to remember things - but I still can't remember what they were.
If statins do that in a few weeks I imagine that others like me, who have kind people ensuring that they take their statin each day, would have to be confined to nursing homes for their own protection. I still can't get the pitch right to sing Leonard Cohen's 'hallelujah'

Me too - My cholesterol levels were considered excellent well within the middle range of the scale they use - however where I live you often hear (and this seems like a typical scare tactic) "Living with Diabetes for as long as you have is like already having a heart attack" (Yes I know, my doctor must think I'm an idiot and that statement actually comes from a pharmaceutical company with no credible research that I have reviewed) Now the cascading affect of statins ... some doctors will then turn around and also prescribe blood pressure medications to try and protect the kidneys from the possible affects of the statin. So I started taking the Statins and BP meds and went from a physically active and healthy person who would regularly cycle and canoe to someone who suddenly had problems going up a flight of stairs because of the Stain and BP meds ... I don;t take them anymore even though he keeps trying to renew my prescription. After about a month of not taking them I went back to my old physical routine, problem free - my cholesterol is still in the mid range and that's good enough for me.

I think it's really important not to view doctors as seemingly smart people but instead just another professional who get bombarded by Pharma marketing, questionable research, and are really busy with a full case load of patients

That's basically how I feel about the whole medical profession.
