I am currently taking Prednisolone (3 years now). I am a type 2 diabetic on insulin. I am aware that steroids cause a rise in readings, but I am also now being told that my readings can drop low due to steroids. Is this possible?

Steroids don't always raise BG, but I've not heard of them lowering BG.
Though this may be theoretically possible if they reduce some other condition which raises BG.

Not in my experience. What dosage ae you on?
I have been fluctuating over a long period, down as low as 3.5mg. However more recently I have been taking over 10mg daily, with this last week now taking 20mg which seems to have improved my symptoms. My blood sugar readings can be as high as 15 later in the day, but I have had several instances of readings around 3.2 during the night.

I could control glucose at 20mg using two types of insulin. Currently on 30mg having dropped from 60mg. Struggling at the moment!

You managed to control at 20mg. Which insulin were you using? Did you experience any low readings?
