Hi. I'm looking to switch to a more natural sweetener and am looking at Stevia. Can anyone tell me if this is suitable for Type-1 diabetics? The granulated type still seems to have 100g carbs per 100g, although it says none of which are sugars. Do any other type-1 diabetics use granulated stevia and does it affect their control, or do they need extra insulin for it?

I totally appreciate this is great for T2 diabetics, but looking for a T1 persective please.

Many thanks,

jp619.

From the perspective as someone with Type 1, I do not use any sugar alternatives. I eat sugar as I did before my diagnosis and adjust my insulin accordingly.
I went cold turkey on sugar in tea (I don't drink coffee) and use sugar as someone without diabetes in cooking and baking when I would need insulin anyway due to the carbs in the flour.
