Type 2 Stop and Start medication

I currently am prescribed Metformin and Gliclazide and diabetes nurse wants me to start Lixisenatide (Lyxumia) injections
My issue is I have had so many problems with getting my prescriptions and due to countless errors by the admin staff every month I end up with a few days to at one stage 3 weeks with no tablets.
I worries me that I am stopping and starting my medication but now afraid I will have same problems going forward with obtaining the Lixisenatide

I want the surgery to sort out my prescriptions and guarantee a regularly supply of the tablets before I start injections

What are the implications starting and stopping both the tablets I take now and what are the implications if I have the same problem with the injections
 
Hi. I'm going to generalise here as an amateur. I'm not recommending you to miss any tablets. Stopping metformin would cause a small rise in blood sugar and you would lose it's small weight reducing capability; not a big problem in practice? If the Gliclazide is working well for you then you might see a big rise in blood sugar within a day if you stop it. Missing diabetes injections of any kind is not a good idea. It looks like you need to complain to your surgery as it appears to be failing badly. I order my prescriptions online using the surgeries online service and the meds are ready to pickup from my chosen local chemist 2-3 days later. I can order monthly prescriptions up to 1 week early so can and do build up a stock of 1-2 months supply to cover any problems. Is there anything you can do following a similar approach?

Thanks for the response - I am not missing any tablets by choice and have complained several times to the surgery. I have had numerous excuses none of which ring true and always seems to be someone else's fault. I am going to look at complaining above the surgery to local health authority as there area lot of issues with other areas within practice. I also have a problem with my back due a car accident I saw a doctor and without any examination or looking at my notes was told it was because I was diabetic and to see nurse, Had to wait 3 months to see her to be told what I already knew - it was nothing to do with my diabetes. At the moment my main concern is with the problems getting my metform and gliclacide regularly I don't feel comfortable starting injections and finding I still have problems getting regular prescription. I have several horror stories of what can happen if you suddenly stop taking medication and trying to find the truth
 
I'd be looking for another medical practice. If you are restricted because of where you live, my understanding is that if you contact the NHS office they can arrange for you to be allowed to register outside your area.
