Hi all,
I took my reading just before tea at about 16:30 and it was 8.6. I then ate, veggie sausage red onion pepper and a little bit of packet smash stuff. Half an hour after dinner I went out for a 1.5 mile walk with the good lady, at her speed, so no records were broken.
I took my reading again at 18:00 and it read 5.4! I cant understand why it is so low, I mean, I would be pleased had the figures been the other way round, but this is just confusing.
Thanks in advance
Mick

The old habit of helping to digest your meal. It does work.

When you exercise several hormones and some enzymes are released which aid how insulin uses the glucose in your blood to replenish the muscles, which too need 'feeding'. If you were low on glucose in your blood, ie if you hadn't eaten, your body would attempt to get some by converting muscle fat. But, as you had just eaten, there's a readily available supply, so, that's what it uses. The hormones and enzymes are at their highest levels for the first 12 hours but then start to disappear rapidly and are almost gone by 48 hours. However, frequent exercises have a cumulative effect and if you exercise three times per day, you more or less keep this aspect at its maximum.

This is not the same as improving cardio vascular fitness or attempting to lose weight by exercise. You have to work harder than you have done to improve those things. But, having a couple of 'daily constitutionals' does work wonders.

Note however, if you have some really bad carbs that release very quickly, it may go up and not down but at least it won't go up as much as it would without the exercise.

Hi Yorksman,
I do try to do some harder walking whilst on my own, my main reason for the evening walk is to help my good lady, who has hip and knee problems, so she works hard and I shout motivational advice every no and again :D
But, during the day, or when I get a chance I take myself for a walk, which I work hard at. I'm not a jogger, never have been, never will be, but I work up a sweat and get out of breath when I walk alone.
