Stress, High BG and Fast Acting insulin

All,

Had a really bad day today at work. Stress seems to really push up my BG levels. Measurements mid morning and afternoon were 13.2 and 15.7. (both 2.5 hours after food). I felt like I had my finger in an electrical socket which was stressing me on top of the work related stress.

Does anybody ever take a few units of fast acting insulin in these situations ?

Cheers
Paul

Sorry that I can't help with your question Paul, but this will 'bump' it up again so hopefully it will be seen.

Well, things like stress can affect BG much like physical illness. To answer your question, I'm sure that many people do take extra insulin in such situations. [High BG is a response to cortisol levels, and the ultimate cause of the increased cortisol levels is academic when dealing with the resulting hyperglycaemia]

Thanks for the help

Had another high reading today of 12.8 at 11:15. Took 2u of Humalog and was down to 3.1 by 12:30. More effective than I expected, almost 5mmol per unit.

Made quick exit to canteen !

I'm very new to fast acting insulin and can see already how much care needs to be taken
