Since around mid December I have been struggling, more so the past 3 weeks.
Morning levels are now between 9 and 10.5. I know that's not classed as very high but it's still creeping up.
I am eating all the wrong things and have put on 8lb in 2 weeks.
My bipolar is so unpredictable at the moment and to be honest, this is re worst I have ever felt.
This I feel has impacted on my diabetes which is why I posted in here.
It's so hard to get an appointment with gp or DN which is why I managed to get an appointment with my psych on Wednesday. My sleep was bad before but now it's worse then ever.
I do think it's more to do with my bipolar which I feel is having a big effect on my diabetes
In the past I had tried the samaritans. I thought it was a waste of time personally. I know they can,t give advice, but all I got was yes or no, no help to meHi Ally. It must be so disheartening to go round in circles as you are. And you have over 19,000 likes on the forum! What a help you have been to others. I wish you could win the national health lottery and get some proper attention.
Have you thought of calling the Samaritans and having a good heart to heart? You don't have to be about to jump off a bridge, you can talk about anything with a good listener who will make you feel worthwhile just as yourself.
EDIT There's an enormous list of references to the Samaritans on the forum so sorry if I'm just repeating what others have suggested.
I have tried to be referred but my gp won,t.I'm sorry Ally1 with your multiple and poorly treatment of diabetes. I sympathize with an increasing bg, but mine too is creeping up year by year after 10 years, but mostly at lunch; at supper it is almost normal . For some peculiar reason I prefer to be high than low. Low gives me a heart ache. Go figure. As for bipolar, I suspect that 30 years of lithium at 900mg every day, may have actually caused diabetes. I hope you can find an endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes. Cheers.
I have grown confident due to everyone here. I class you all as my virtual friends xxHi @ally1 - I'm really pleased your Psych has your back again and is still fighting your corner, but what I really wanted to say was how much you have grown in the last couple of years.
When you arrived on the forum you were so quiet and timid, but now you are far more bold and dare I say it, confident? YOu have had such a lot to cope with, but given a little time, you have seemed to use each episode of adversity into something that has made you stronger.
AND, I've never, ever see you be rude to anyone.
They only listen and act in emergencies. Not psychologist but friendly listening ear but like us all, all have different knowledge. Often worth calling a few times to get someone who understands your plight. They all have different backgrounds and skills of enormous variations. In the past I had tried the samaritans. I admire your hard work and results due to it. You would be in constant double figures if it wasn't for your hard work.I have grown confident due to everyone here. I class you all as my virtual friends xx
Thank youHi @ally1,
Please don’t feel alone.
We are all on this together as one big family.
To maintain an excellent bg levels, I strongly suggest to go back to basics, always watch what you eat.
I treat every single day as if it’s my last day. This is how I manage my diabetes.
God bless!
Andrew
I might consider calling againThey only listen and act in emergencies. Not psychologist but friendly listening ear but like us all, all have different knowledge. A very rewarding voluntary job but very emotional at times.
Thank youI admire your hard work and results due to it. You would be in constant double figures if it wasn't for your hard work.
You stronger med might surprise you and only change you a fraction as its already in your system. Fingers crossed.
Would you consider being stricter with your carbs in your diet to compensate? Maybe try just 2 days per week which run concurrently to see if any improvement?
Remember you stomped giving up smoking so I know this is possible for you.
You may surprise yourself!
Oh they are totally rubbish. Feeling so frustrated for you. When I first had trouble with my surgery back in April last year, I wrote a letter to the practice manager, guess what, not a reply
Thank you for the info.Hi @ally1
I don't know if this will help, but many areas now offer IAPT services (improving access to psychological therapies), which you can self-refer to (no need for a GP referral
You would need to find out what services are available from your CCG which is determined by your GP practice, Google will help with that. alternatively you can contact MIND and they will signpost you. If you struggle to find them feel free to pm me and ill help you find the information)
Our local IAPT providers offer telephone calls and online support at a time to suit you. Each area will be different, but I hope they would be able to support you. Good luck xxx
