Struggling to raise blood sugar

Has anyone reviewed your insulin dosage @markyj ? I would expect that if you are having repeated serious hypos they need adjusting. I would also push for some blood testing strips because the libre isn't accurate/working all the time and you really need strips as a back up. (Well, at least, as a T1 on insulin who gets hypos on occasions I certainly do.) It would be a lot cheaper for the NHS to supply a few testing strips rather than have repeated 999 call outs because you don't get proper hypo warnings.

I hope you feel better soon. Hypos can be horrible, and bad ones can leave me feeling rotten for the next day too.

I went to hospital earlier in the week to see a consultant at the diabetic clinic but nobody was there of any importance so couldn't see them about my dosage or about the libre 2 issues I'm having as their the ones that put me on it. I considering getting a pin prick glucose tester meter as back up but one that can test for ketones as well because I've had ketosis in the past

If it helps, and it may not be the best choice in the UK, I am in NZ where those of us needing to worry about potential DKA use a caresens dual. Be warned the ketone strips come in packs of 10, have a relatively short expiry date, and are quite pricey.

The New Zealand health system is very price sensitive, so all T1s use the caresens meter (there is also a version that doesn't test for ketones). Frankly if you've had a DKA I would have thought you have a very good case for asking for a ketone testing meter, but it sounds like you may not be in the best area for diabetes care/funding?

Will ask my local GP surgery if they can source a good one and put it through my medication certificate which allows me free medication

I have another appointment with the diabetic unit in hospital in march hopefully the specialist nurse and consultant will be there this time. If not I will talk to my GP and get advice through diabetes UK of which I'm registered

The NHS has been run down by the UK's previous government because they wanted to start a American version of the health service so many departments were underfunded for years. Hoping the new government will fix the NHS now but I won't hold my breath

It might be my sensor playing up but happening twice in a row

This is why you should confirm with a finger stick proper blood test, most sensors when faulty will read low.. if you get readings that are out of range you should confirm before treating

Also confirming will prevent a lot of panic and stress

Please read my recent post about Ozempic. It's ruined my life and health. I've felt so lonely and thought I was going crazy. I've quit taking it cold turkey and found out it'll be 5 WEEKS before my body will begin to rid itself of this poison. I thank you fir sharing your journey and hope you find a better solution. I was afraid of having weight loss surgery and now know that surgery would have been picnic compared to Ozempic. I wish you luck and success on your journey and am grateful for your share.
