Hi
I work by the river & seriously cold lately down there
Today at work had to go outside to do some pressure washing-outside for about 5 mins. Came inside & my feet were that cold they were hurting & felt sick! We wear yellow oilskins & gloves (work with Mussels)
I had in decent socks & thermal baselayer
I've noticed past week that my left foot seems to get much colder! When I got back today my 3 toes on left foot were dark blue & took ages to warm up
Any advice please?

@Jessd

Hi, and so sorry to hear this.

Can we presume your toes have now returned to 'normal' colour, warmth, movement now? Do you have 'normal' feeling in them, ie hot/cold/touch etc?

Whatever the answers to the above I've asked, I would strongly urge you to get an emergency appointment at your surgery tomorrow, with either your Diabetes Nurse, or one of the GPs.

I don't like to worry you but this could suggest that your circulation to those toes is not quite what it should be, starting to show itself. Hopefully, it will come to little issue but certainly I would want this investigated very soon before anything irreversable was established.

Please, I would urge you to arrange to be seen tomorrow. Don't let any receptionist put you off, nor accept being told there are no appointments available. They always have facilities to see anyone with an emergency.

Please let us know how it goes. Wishing you all the best

Energize-thank you for your reply
Yes they were better this afternoon
I'll be honest my feet are often cold just this past week I have noticed that my left foot is significantly colder! I will call doctors tomorrow
Will also wear better socks &I wear disposable gloves under my work ones & see how I go
Keep you posted- thank you

Today I phoned local podiatrist NHS- got a call back, been given an appointment on the 27th February. Asked to be called if they get any cancellations.
Weather not as cold today, had cashmere socks & heat holders on top! Baselayer thermal top & hoody & jacket aswell as under armour coldgear leggings with jeans on top- when I was out & about felt the cold again, feet were icy

I really think that the 27th Feb is too long away. You need to see someone today or tomorrow. Please call your doctors surgery ASAP @Jessd . I have cold feet but nothing as bad as discoloured toes. Please ring the Doc!

Yea I feel it's too long away really
Got a doctors appointment with nurse this Friday afternoon

When I lived in a significantly cold period (the year I left the snow that fell when I came home for Christmas was still on the ground when I next came away in March), I used to wear silk socks under warmer wool or cashmere socks. The double layer made a massive difference. I also have some bamboo clothing that is wafer thin, but exceptionally warm.

Having your feet checked out is important to ensure there's nothing of concern is important, but it could be worthwhile investing in some good layers if you are going to be in the cold regularly.

Wasn't it Billy Connolly who said something like, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing"?

I do have good merino socks & normally wear 2 pairs of socks. Always wear a thermal baselayer top as need it wear I work as right by the river so always colder down there

That's a lot of layers @Jessd to still feel the cold, if your feet check out fine hopefully the Dr will take some bloods, conditions like anamia can make you feel cold so it's worth ruling out. Good luck.

Hi
Saw the doctor yesterday, she said my feet were icy cold , checked the sensation on both, missed 2 on my left. Struggled to find pulse on my left foot. Advised I ring podiatrist to see if I could get sooner appointment, will ring Monday
