Struggling with this

Thanks to all who have replied. Some of the meal plans are interesting, but.................... they all contain large amounts of veg, the bulk of which I cannot tolerate. The stuff I tend to live on goes like this. Bacon and eggs, roast beef, (peppered or otherwise) roast pork. new potatoes, carrots, peas, grilled haddock or coley, . My wife makes me quiches which have a sausage meat casing, filled with eggs, ham, and cheese. Sometimes for breakfast I may have a small bowl of cornflakes, with milk, and a bit of granulated Canderel sweetener. And of course I also like my cheese especially Red Leicester, Double Gloucester, and medium strength cheddar. Oh I forgot I also love a bit of very lean belly pork. I realise this all sound dull and boring, but to a point I suppose it is. For fruit, I love bananas, Granny smith apples, and oranges.

Do you want to control your diabetes or not?

If you do, then keep reading all the excellent advice you have been given and have a go at following it. Get a meter if you have't already got one and test out your normal meals. The rise in levels from before to after may well give you the motivation you need to change things. No-one is forcing veggies on you, and certainly not me as I said in my earlier post.

Good news: it will be dead easy to tweak your diet to be perfectly compatible with type 2 diabetes:

Ditch the potatoes, carrots, milk/corn flakes, and fruit. Replace the fruit with berries. No need to eat loads of veg.

Hi NoCarbs4Me
I agree with eating berries in place of other fruits you like, but without something like veg to fill up on you will be hungry and tempted to eat things you shouldn't have, all veg grown above ground has less carbs than those grown underground,it's just about tweaking some of the things you eat for better BG results.
It's daunting when your trying to maintain good results, but someone on here will have a solution to questions you need help with. Good luck K

Um....I think have it figured out, so I don't have any questions, but thanks.

I have never understood the desire to feel full up - it is something I have lived without and never missed. I do not equate it with not being hungry - that is something quite different, but I have sometimes noted how slowly I eat compared to other people - on several occasions I have found that others have cleared every plate of food whilst I have been enjoying the first few mouthfuls. I had to learn to grab what I might want straight away or not have enough to eat. Even then, I once left my place at a table to get a cup of tea, and when I returned most of my food was gone, and what was left had bites taken out of it.

Out of interest do you know your daily intake of carbs are at the mo? if not take a few days to weigh everything you eat and work out the carbs, you may find reducing or removing the potatoes and replacing the fruit with something else less carby may help. your diet doesn't sound that carb heavy - depending on the portions!

sorry don't know who said it previously but as for using 'greens' to fill you up, its the fat that will make you feel more full anyway.

So by your own words your diet isn't very inspiring - so what? but you could also use it as an excuse to try new and different things, you can buy a soya bean spaghetti, try different beans, pulses nuts, veg you've never heard of before or tried! and expand your love of cheese!

Apologies to you NoCarbs4 Me, I miss read the post it was originally posted by horrible_al, I'm blaming it on lack of little grey cells aged (70) K

It seems I may have upset someone. Well the someone upset me. So may be as well if I keep off this forum for a while, and allow feelings to cool down. Sorry if I've given offence. None was intended.
Goodbye.

As you can see @horrible_al there are plenty of options under LCHF.

Not to derail the OP's thread, but this is a clear full colour demo of what you CAN eat. Never once did you describe the stuff we can't.
@horrible_al I ditched Metformin recently (after 12mths) and probably could have done so after 6. I regularly eat like in the photos above. I just wanted to say -it CAN be done!
Edit: please stay with us @horrible_al . I think you'll find it takes a lot to offend us. It's diabetes we're fighting, not each other!

@horrible_al - It would be a shame if you were to leave. In forum life, over time, many, many people have posts deleted or edited. I know I have.

If you're unsure then perhaps take a day or two away from the forum, the dip back in again.
