I'm currently 10+5 weeks pregnant, so at the really critical stage where BG levels need to be good. It had all been going ok until the last 4 days happened, and basically I've had far too many peaks for my liking.
There's a combination of factors at work here - at home I'm not exactly LCHF but I do keep the carbs down and only eat those ones I've tested, but we've been staying away with various relatives etc so I haven't had control over the food options available. I also find it's much harder to say no at Christmas, because hosts want to see you having a good time and to them that equals eating the nice things. My willpower has not been good enough.
Most of the spikes have been short lived (up to 10 for an hour then back down again), but last night was awful, as I had pasta for dinner.
Went up to 11 and stayed there. Took a correction at 2 hours after which should have brought me down to 5, went to bed. Woke in the night to find I was still at 9.5. Took another correction to bring me to 3.5 (didn't care if I went hypo at this point, just wanted it down). Finally came down and woke at 4.5. But on the libre I can see I was over 8 for 6-7 hours in total.
I now feel awful about what this may have done to the poor baby. We are back home today so I can go back to my usual diet and be back in range (hopefully), but I'm worried about what damage has already been done.
Did anyone else have these kind of spikes in the early days? Did it turn out ok in the end? Any reassurance welcome as I'm feeling very worried right now.
