My mate has just, very kindly, brought me a couple of jars of Stute, thin cut, diabetic marmalade from the UK.
I used to love a spot of cheese and marmalade on a Rivita or piece of toast for breakfast.
It has 60.2g of carbs per 100g of which 57.5g are polyols (sorbitol) and 2.5g are sugars.
Does anyone eat this or have any opinions to offer?

The majority of foods labeled as "diabetic" are a con and overpriced. 60g per 100g is fairly high yet you obviously won't be using as much as 100g in one go.

It'll probably be better for your BG than real jam but at what cost?

I eat it from time to time, as well as the Stute strawberry jam, but I find that, as they are quite strongly flavoured, I only need a thin scrape to get the taste I want. To date, using them this way has no effect on my BG levels and they don't produce any sugar cravings, either.

Hi Chris, I also use this product as well as the strawberry, spread thinly no problem, I also use it to sweeten some bland puddings.

Hi Chris, I eat this quite often on Atkins crispbread, whilst it is expensive it is one of the best flavoured marmalades on the market. Also for jam lovers out there that be watching the pennies, Tesco now do no added sugar jams and marmalade at 75p each. It doesn't seem to affect my blood sugars very much at all and totally fits in with my low carb diet.

I like the Stute jams/marmalades as a treat, but small quantities only as the sweetners are one of those which can cause "digestive distress"

It's a good brand and I use the difference to flvours. However natural fruits also contain sugar and I found the raspberry one too sweet. This jelly is our alternative to other sweets.

Thank you all for your comments. Most appreciated. I'll try some on the weekend for breakfast!

Dreadful stuff,too watery

I've had the metformin runs, the sugar-free sweets runs, the living-in-Asia runs and the traveling runs. Bring it on.

I use Stute marmalade and jams in moderation on hilo or livlife bread. I love the taste, and don't get a polyol gut effect. The only downside is that Sorbitol is apparently turned into fructose by the liver, and also Sorbitol pathways may be implicated in neuropathy. So one jar lasts me a couple of months!

I've been type 1 diabetic for nearly 50 years and stute have been going a while too. I have an allergy to sorbitol so no longer use it. But after doing a DAPHNE course found that within reason I can eat anything I want. Just work out the carbs and inject appropriate amount of insulin to counter balance your food. Yes I do eat things with sugar and that's fine.

It's absolutely disgusting and more carbs than many normal! jams and marmalades.

Stute is full of maltitol which half of it is basically like sugar, it spikes your blood glucose and has calories.

I am yet to find a stevia/erythritol only marmalade/jam.

I prefer Jok 'n' Al marmalades

I have just made some marmalade using a tin of Saville oranges (Marmade or Home variety) which is prepared and instead of sugar I used Xylotol but only using half the quantity stated on the tin. It made 4 and a half pound jars instead of 6 as stated on the tin. Really enjoyed the taste and only time will tell how it keeps, but should be OK as the jars are sealed.

Every time we find something new we can eat to add to our diet then it is a bonus as far as I'm concerned and it does not matter if others don't approve of it. So those of you who like the jam have it and enjoy it
