Type 2 Sugar In Drinks

I drink diet Coke, Pepsi, flavoured waters etc, but I sometimes doubt the drinks on tap in pubs etc. for there sugar content.
I have been told to test the sugar in a drink with urine test strips, obviously substituting the drink for the urine, is this correct?

Hi @martinluther Yes you can use your strips to do this - however I prefer not to waste my strips on doing this so opt to have cans instead and if someone does buy me a diet drink on draught then I can generally tell from the taste of sugar vs sweetener, but if given the option at the bar and there's no cans/bottles available then I simply have lemon and water.

I have had this problem when ive ordered a coke when ive had low sugar and been given a diet, if in doubt i dip my finger in the drink, shake it and then blood test, if it full of sugar you will get a reading in high teens or 20s!!

Hi Martin, after a couple of weeks of avoiding sugar in all food and drinks you will be able to just tell the difference if someone gives you the wrong drink by mistake.

IF you get a full fat coke instead of diet coke in the pub its not going to kill you, the best bet is to not go for the draft soft drink it tastes like soda stream anyway. :***:
