Is what I miss most so far .Diet pre diagnosis was lacking in treats (had been on actual diet so in dieting mentality so a bit easier to give up some things). However as a life long two sugars in yer tea type person I am desperately missing it .

Not usually a fan of sweeteners but are there any good alternatives as I fear I will eventually give in and have a sugar in my tea . If not now then at some point in the next 40+ years!

So in the opinion of you newbies/veterans et al which is the best sweetener to use -if at all.

My opinion,no sugar ,no sweetener either. It's mind over matter, tell yourself it tastes OK and I guarantee you will like it and in a few weeks you will not be able to drink it with sugar/sweetener.

I think Sue is absolutely right - persevere with the sugar free tea for 2 or 3 weeks and you should find you're weaned off it forever. You'll stop anticipating a blast of sugar and just enjoy the tea.

All the best,

fergus

Years ago I stopped sugar in my tea (my weight was increasing) & switched to saccharine. Before long the after taste became unpleasant, so I stopped that. Now sweetened tea is unpleasant.

i always drank tea with 2 sugars and at first detested sugarless tea, like sue and fergus say try without and after a few weeks its fine,
i actually prefer it now ,i can taste the tea better

Been a lifelong Sweetex user with the occasional Hermesetas just for variety...I've never found the aftertaste bitter but then that may be because I've never had sugar to compare it to!!!

I used to have 3 sugars in tea and coffe pre diagnosis. It's funny but I can go without the cakes and biscuits and sweeties but still crave a hot sweet drink. I know theres a lot of controvesey about it but I use Canderel (aspartame based).

Eeek I have been using Splenda on my porridge, bran flakes and also in tablet form in my tea - by the sound of it there is no surprise that I can't stabilise my bs levels! I was completely taken in by the adverts so thanks guys the splenda is in the bin!
