Summer colds\Flu

Hi all,

I have had a summer cold for a week now and can’t keep my bg levels down i have been taking extra units of novo rapid as a correction dose 2 hrs after meals, but I know this isn’t ideal.

Any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance

What I know that cold or flu make the blood sugar very high ,I don't know if insulin will make it decrease but I think you should cure first from the flu then control your blood sugar,

You need to follow the Sick Day Rules when unwell, have high bg levels and using a basal/bolus insulin regime:

Just seen you are newly diagnosed @Jestred, maybe best that you contact your DSN in the morning if your unsure of anything.

As noblehead said. Upping the basal will probably help you out. Keep in mind the units are %. Don't fear a huge hike in units <3 Feel well soon!
