If a family member is diagnosed with diabetes (either type) , it affects the family as a whole like changes in menus , diet timing and so on...
All family members in particular the spouse (if applicable) has to sacrifice and provide full emotional and physical support/cooperation to the affected member .Sometimes, things are not as should be. I am posting this to hear views of forum members on this topics . How your spouse cooperates with you as a diabetic patient ?

Hello, I cant speak of a spouse, but my teenager is thoughtful and caring, but not a carer. It's great to have support from family and friends, but it's not a life threatening condition and things shouldn't be turned upside down, but obviously with type 1 children and the younger adults there are definite changes. Good diabetes management and control by the diabetic is the best way forward and helps by getting on the right track if newly diagnosed.

Best wishes RRB :)

I had diabetes for a few years before I met my wife, but it's never been an issue between us and we hardly ever discuss my diabetes, my kids have grown up use to seeing me injecting and testing bg levels and again they never mention it, tbh I prefer it that way.

My family make sure I obey all the rules with regard to control.
They all make great meals etc; even I can do my bit with regard to cooking etc;
Mind you they do think I have a secret love on my lap top.( this Forum:))
Roninredbreast daughter is the simple gift that we all would like from our family " thoughtful and caring," I have 5 gifts rolled into one.

My wife lets me do all the cooking

..... and the washing up.

Chicken and king prawns in a spicy soup with a few noodles tonight.

My wife hates me for being so strict to myself, only been three months since diagnosis but we now eat what I eat as she cant be bothered to make different things for her and so called low carb food does not taste that awful anyways.
Oh yes she is quite supportive specially last few weeks i feel have been too hard on myself and also quite moody at times.

My wife just let's me get on with it.
Me too! Although I have persuaded her to try cauliflower mash and smaller loaves because I don't eat bread. In fact food wise all I have to do is avoid high fat, does untold damage to her weight watchers points. LOL I can avoid carbs as much as I like, she'll eat whatever. I'm the house spouse anyway.
