Hi everybody!
My name is Sonia, my 10 year old daughter is type 1 insulin dependant, she is shortly due to go on a pump after a very long battle with the health service in our area, & I was wondering if anyone new of any support groups in my area or where I can go to find out if there are any?
My daughter, Iona, was diagnosed over 8 years ago but to this day we still have not met anyone else who is type 1 around her age... I think now we are getting ready for the pump we need to start to have that support around us, both for me & my daughter.
She has her bad days more than other children her age but they never seem to understand why she gets so down & upset. I am hoping that if she has someone her own age to talk to about her diabetes it might help her understand the illness better & also build her confidence.
Like I say even if you don't know of a particular group, just a point on the right direction would be of great help...
