No Vino?

:confused:Only two glasses but that's a norm for me , still don't know why my numbers went so low,I expected them to rocket after the carbs and sugar I had !

Wine causes my glucose readings to be artificially low for a few hours -- then they shoot right up. Clearly our bodies handle wine differently.

The reason I asked about the vino is that alcohol can drive your numbers down. I have found that if i have something carby like a pasta dish, and have a nice glass of pinot to accompany it, then I need less insulin. I got this wrong last weekend and ended up at 3.8 at bedtime - then had to eat carbs before sleeping!

This is the trouble I had took ages to get my levels back up , I will have to try it again and keep an eye on my BG to see what happens . Thanks for your reply JJ

Do you take any medication for your diabetes?

I have lots of 3s, at various times of the day and evening. As I am not taking any meds, and provided I feel fine, I don't do anything to "deal with" the lower numbers. The times I've been at very low 3s and into the 2s have tended to be before food, so I've just got on and eaten as I intended anyway.

Clearly if you take Gliclazide or insulin style drugs you need to be vigilent, and if you feel rough you should have something to eat or drink if you are low.

I take metformin 2 , 2x a day . I did feel a bit rough but they keep telling me can't have hypos on metformin may be not but I have something , never been in the threes before but didn't fancy going to bed that low , how do you know what to do if nobody tells you it's what pees me off with having diabetes is no one will tell you diddleysquot.

Agreed. I felt same thing too in the past when I used to take wine. Currently not taking wine or not testing regularly either. So cannot experiment much.

Last week I got a copy of routine/ annual complete blood analysis at workplace, everything is normal except BS is 6.1 I made a few changes within last 2 months that might have caused this. After reading the threads on this forum, I started high protein, low carb diet on most days. My GP at work told me to not to consume whey protein shake. So have to redo my routine.
