Swedish experts found Low carb most effective

The Swedish Health System is great and was the first to actively advocate lchf not only for diabetics but also for its entire population. When I decided I needed to try something different to the NHS way it was translations of the Swedish recommendations that I followed.

So, two meals a day, no breakfast, no snacks, LCHF is the Swedish way.

""If you can, skip [breakfast]! This is a habitual behavior, the body has no need for nourishment the minute you get out of bed if you've eaten a high-fat dinner the day before. We make our own glucose from stored protein, and it probably costs a few calories to produce this glucose, which can be one reason why a low-carb diet provides great weight loss. Also, skip snacks and any low-fat products. If we were meant to nibble on low-fat foods all day we wouldn't have been equipped with a gall bladder. If you eat two meals daily, with few carbohydrates and plenty of good fats, you'll do just fine. Do like the Mediterranean people. Let a cup of coffee be your breakfast in the morning.""

Who's for doing LCHF that way?

.From:
Måns Rosén, head SBU. Kjell Asplund , chairman of the SBU's scientific advisory board. Jonas Lindblom, project manager for the SBU report " Food in obesity ." Nina Rehnquist , chairman of the SBU board.
(ttranslation from google translate

(the) SBU report " Food in obesity " attracted huge media attention and was over interpreted by some . We would like to clarify the report's message and correct some interpretations (for which ) there is not evidence . )

I think every group in the world has claimed selected highlights to support themselves.

A bullet proof coffee can keep me going 'til lunchtime!:)

No argument.

Strong, black, sorted!

I can't see the problem. I was so pleased to see this advice . I didnt eat breakfast for years before I was put on [too many} meds.
I was advised to eat more carbs so I could tolerate them.
I have reverted to my pre-diagnosis diet which has lowered my HBaC immensely . The only thing I didnt change was to stop trying to eat breakfast..
I now realise I was only eating breakfast for the meds. You can have my yogurt too if you like Andy - I hate it but have been forcing it down with blueberries for the past few years.

sure push it this way, its my favourite meal of the day :) before dx i often didnt eat until 2pm i could go without brekkie no problem if i didnt like the taste so much, to be honest i was under the impression it was the most important meal of the day but maybe not after this :)

Prior to diagnosis I never ate breakfast then for around 18 months I did the Greek yoghurt and berries thing but have lapsed back to nothing most days. If my wake up bg is higher than I like then I'll do the yogurt as I find the sugar in the berries helps lower my bgs more rapidly after the small spike they give you.

Didn't any of you people go to the States and eat a proper American Breakfast? Sour dough toast, waffles, PROPER bacon and sausage, hash browns, PROPER scrambled eggs, pastries, gallons of coffee, endless supply of pink grapefruit juice, etc etc?? No need to eat for the rest of the day. Diabetes ruined the start of my day....

If Sweden is so good, how come Kurt Wallander got diabetes? :-)

At least the Rolf Lassgård version did.

The Swedish Health System is great and was the first to actively advocate lchf not only for diabetics but also for its entire population.

They also conducted enforced sterlisation for women deemed unstable or unsuitable for motherhood as late as the 1970s. One poor girl was sterilised compulsarily because her grandparents and parents had all been on benefits and they didn't want to run the risk of her children doing the same.
