Type 2 Swelling from mosquito bite or boil won't heal completely, it does go down but refused to disappear. It will swell up again after weeks.

For full history I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and subclinical hypothyroid back in July 2024. I found this out because I had a minor surgery on my right thigh with a dermatologist, and I had requested a health screening. After my results came back, my dermatologist referred me to a family medicine specialist.

My family medicine specialist prescribed metformin and atorvastatin. Just a week before I get my stitches removed, I developed a boil also on my right thigh, which is further away from the surgery area. Fearing I might contract an infection due to the surgery, I brought this up to my dermatologist, they then prescribed me antibiotics and betamethasone 1 in 4 for infection and swelling, respectively. The swelling does subside, but from time to time it will swell up again but not as painfully. I tried experimenting by applying benzoyl peroxide to prevent it from swelling up again, but it didn't help. I also tried experimenting by putting gauze over the mosquito bite to see if I was bitten and didn't realize it, and the result was the bite got swollen on its own. I can confirm it is impossible for a mosquito to bite through the gauze.

My daily sugar never goes above 8, and my HbA1c as of November 2024 is 6.8. I have no problem healing cuts, mouth ulcers, and acne.
Anyone has any idea what condition may be related to conditions mentioned above that might interfere with my healing process so that I can bring it up to my family medicine specialist?

Hi @TimidTimmy98 we cannot diagnose or suggest treatments for your skin problem, you need to consult one of your Drs or specialists, whilst keeping your blood sugars under as strict control as you can manage.

Sounds more like you might want to get back in touch with dermatology. If it keeps swelling and reducing, getting inflamed and whatnot, it could need a little help from a specialist who might drain it properly and get more antibiotics in the mix, rather than some home experiments. I know it's not the best time of year to try and get in touch with anyone, but you do want to get some help with this. Could just need antihistamines, but honestly, we can't do much of anything on here in ways of diagnosis, and we certainly can't lance something or perscribe anything. But you do need help, and more help than we can safely give you.

If you needed a nudge to get proper medical help, consider yourself nudged. ;)
Good luck and get well soon!
