I have been type 1 for 23 years and have developed over the years a swollen belly so much so it looks like those joke bellys you get. I have suffered lower back pain for many years and is tender to touch especially the left hand side. My left bicep is very sore and I have difficulty in lifting and using arm . Has neuropathy struck?

What has your Dr said about your swollen belly?

Hi said was my diabetes however nothing much else. I look so much bigger than was 5 / 6 years ago feel miserable

Have you tried changing foods at all. Certain foods can cause bloating? I take it that your bowel is functioning normally?
Did your GP feel your stomach?

Charming, I would go back and ask for a fuller explanation and don't be fobbed off.......especially as you have some discomfort and pain, if they can't diagnose the problem then ask for a referral. Good luck.

Pain is terrible at the moment as back extremely tender to touch and really sore at base and especially the sides. Good news though l have been referred for X-Rays plus biopsy of bladder as had a lot of bleeding when l we'ed

glad you have a referral :)

just reading through your original post my first thought was lipohypertrophy
link here http://www.diabetes.co.uk/conditions/lipohypertrophy.html

sorry -- here is a pic of what it can look like

the other pain in your back could be totally unconnected and the pain in your upper arm and inability to lift -- sounds like it could possibly be frozen shoulder.

for the lipohypertrophy there is advice in the link for site rotation
all the best young lady !!

Thanks for your help much appreciated. Not too sure if is lipohypertrophy however will ask GP. The pain in my left arm has been for the last 4 / 5 years and feels in the bicep muscle and when l lift is incredibly painful and l have to lower immediately. The back pain is really getting me down as can't sleep well at night and in continuous pain throughout the day. That is me in my picture last August and feel and look bloated although l know I have gained weight.

I have been told it could be the vagus nerve as l have developed neuropathy and the food supposedly sits high up at my chest as struggles to digest. Going to the toilet is always a struggle as is painful in my gut and l have terrible nausea. I know within myself that something is wrong however despair at not having a diagnosis.

sorry for asking -- but do you take any meds for digestion and acid-- i am currently on a double the max dose of omeprazole for my hiatus hernia and oesophagitis ( grade C)

Are they testing you for gastroparesis or slow colonic transit?

Mainly been told is my diabetes so much so l feel l have had to pester to get heard. l have complained of sore bellies for many years however was given peppermint oil. Checked for coeliac however nothing . Find myself self diagnosing and at stage not sure what to ask for . l have put on 7 stone in 5 years. When trying to exercise my back pain is horrendous with standing best way to numb the pain.

I think you have misdirected.
A look at profile, and I would not be addressing the OP as 'young lady' or 'hun'.

fair enough -- my apologies to all -- no harm was meant or intended--
i have lived with diabetes most of my life and do not like to see anybody suffer with this disease.
my heart genuinely goes out to anyone that has unresolved problems with this wretched condition.

edited to add -- i mistakenly saw the OP name and the picture and thought you were the lady in the pic -- my full apologies @megan2002 for missing that you are the bloke in the picture.

l have a US Urinary tract x -ray and a CT Urinary Tract on the same day however cannot remember much about what was said although GP concerned at my heavy bleed that occurred. Terrible night again and back pain is really getting me down . Would love a pain free day or night .

If you have a long wait for diagnostic tests, and pain is so bad, A&E would, perhaps, be the best option?
Hope you get this sorted soon.

all the best @megan2002 !!
hope it goes well for you
