Please don't be quick to judge.
I'm newly diagnosed type 1, and I also suffer from social phobia & anxiety,
I have ligament damage, cartilage damage and hamstring damage in my right leg to. I'm currently unemployed to. I'm wondering does anyone have any advice about personal independance payment? And esa..
I'm struggling to cope as I'm a person that finds it difficult taking a pill never mind injecting my self 4 times a day! Its been quiet a journey this last few months I went out alone and hypo'd when I was out being newly diagnosed & having anxiety problems this caused a panic attack and terrified me into not going out without someone with me it was a severe it was amild but because I'm already freaky about being in control of my own body this has sent me into a relapse with the phobia, I'm awaiting dates for phyciatrists one for diabetes & another for the mental train of the disorders & not to mention my ocd for blood tests! Has or does anyone claim pip or esa? Any advice welcome xx

I don't have the answers but hopefully someone will reply soon. Sorry you're having a horrible time at the minute and I hope you get the emotional help you need ! Not just medication ! I would possibly give Citizens Advice Bureau a call ? Anyway, take care, Mo !

I don't really know about making claims for benefits but I can tell you that I am type1 and I also have mental health conditions including depression, anxiety and social phobia. I receive Disability Living Allowance and ESA primarily because of the mental health conditions, but my case was strengthened by the fact that I have type1 diabetes and that the one impacts so greatly on the other and vice versa.

It is hard enough trying to cope with everything that T1 diabetes throws at you but oh so much more difficult when you add mental health conditions to the mix.

Hopefully you can gain some feeling of control through going to these appointments and start to reclaim your life. I know it won't necessarily help at all, but please know that you're not alone in this and there are a lot of people here who are willing to help and support you.

You could contact local diabetic groups who may be able to more support and guidance.
Local groups are spread throughout the country, I have Been in touch with my local group recently
and was welcomed to join a meeting, and a dinner date!.

Diabetes UK have volunteers that I am sure would be willing to help.

John
