Unless my browser isn't working correctly, it looks like your link is faulty.

I've had a quick look online and it appears that the hymercromone drug is commonly used for gallstones and also some inflammatory based conditions. The below link suggests that this drug would only work (at best) as a POSSIBLE prevention against T1D when taken on a permanent basis, pre-diagnosis.

As you know, T1D can manifest itself in people very early on in life, and this would mean having to take the drug from day 1 as a preventative measure against developing the condition. There doesn't appear to be much data available as to the long term effects of taking such a drug indefinitely either.

As type 1 diabetes seems to strike at random (without any family history in a lot of cases); this drug would have to be administered to everyone in order to ascertain whether it slows the uptake of T1D throughout the population.

I do agree that the mice trials look promising and it's always good to hear of possible preventions and cures being discovered. I am quite interested to see whether the human trials proceed and whether the drug works effectively in those who have been diagnosed early enough for the drug to possibly benefit them.

Hopefully we aren't too far off that wonder drug:)

I was wondering when your immune systems starts killing your betacells and when you have 10% betacells left, you get T1D. Then luckily you will get honeymoon period...when on honeymoon you have betacells left...taking hymecromone then would pause autoimmuneattack. According to some recent research most T1D patients they have some betacells left. For them 4-mu treatment could work...in case if it works on humans :)
Thats the reason I thought have anyone tried it?
