I was diagnosed in September 2012 and kept my sugars under control. For some reason in April 2015 my sugars went extremely high, I've never been given a reason. My nurse put me on metformin which caused major problems for my stomach. After three months I was put on the slow release version which is much better although I still some have bad stomach days! The results in February were much better so I'm trying to persevere but for the last few days my sugars are creeping up after eating, without changing my diet and I feel headachy, drinking and weeing a lot more than usual.
Does anyone have any clues for what's happening? I'm finding everything a bit overwhelming at the moment as I suffer from depression and having a bad hit with that.
I would be grateful of any help or advice.

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps you can share your current diet and if you have a glucometer to test your blood glucose level, what those levels are like.

Generally it is a good idea to start with carbs reduction. Remove all white stuff (starch/sugar), eg bread, pasta, rice etc till your blood glucose stabilize. That gives you more room to explore your carbs tolerance level.

Hi. Do let us know whether you have reduced the carbs in your diet. can you also let us know your weight or BMI to eliminate the possibility of being Late onset T1.

Thanks for the responses. I have decreased my carbs slowly over the past six months but need some due to other medication I take. I am over weight but have lost nearly a stone since January but have a long way to go.
Speaking to my hubby at lunchtime he thinks I may be upsetting my sugars due to a change in the risperidone I take (he's been on the internet) so I'm going to contact my nurse on Monday. :(

Interesting. I've not heard of needing to have carbs based on a specific medication before?
