I hope you get some answers with the next appointment and the tests seem warranted and in your shoes I’d be doing the same.

With regard to the high numbers I know you say you watch what you eat and have almost 0 sugar, but do you eat bread, rice, potato, pasta etc ie carbs. Whilst these don’t look like sugar they can cause huge swings in blood glucose readings

GP's not taking any real notice in my symptoms & losing drastic amounts of weight
I saw the practice specialist diabetic GP today, he actually listened to me & has referred me to the local hospital diabetic team to carry out further tests & be monitored by them.

I also have some pains in my left side under rib cage in the area of the spleen but predominantly the pancreas, so also referred me to another department to rule out everything.
He was very humble with his words but said no signs or symptoms of bowl cancer, but that would also be looked into

I’m currently producing insulin & on the Metformin but at some stage in the future may have to take insulin.
He couldn’t confirm T 1.5 but said symptoms could relate to type 1.5 but that’s the hospitals job to find out what type I have and what action will be taken

The pancreas team might be quicker than the diabetes team

It’s been a battle with gp’s for several months to see this particular one, & now got my referral

I forgot to mention test strips, as another GP refused to give me more & to buy / self fund they are around £25 for 50x but I have a check-up appointment in a couple weeks, see what I can get!
The new machine & strips I ordered arrived today & work out more cost effective as having to fund my test strips probably until I go hospital. My sugars are all over the place, but stable & lower in the 3 month tests, also lost more weight since last week!

Will update when I know results

A big thanks to everyone here!

Hi @RobsterUK It's good to hear your practice's diabetic specialist is taking your symptoms seriously.
Hopefully you will get to see the hospital pancreas team or diabetic team soon. Keep us up to date on how it all goes.

Thanks I’m aware of carbs & what they are & what food types they are.
I don’t really eat bread but when I do it’s brown / wholemeal / grainy with seeds.
Had a toasted bagel with butter the other day, about an hour later got some hyper symptoms, checked BG & hit 24.2, so no more bagels!

My girlfriend is T1 for over 24 years so thankfully I do get guidance what I should eat more of & what to try to avoid & if I should go down the carbs route I know it’s small amounts

Hospital consultant called me today & awaiting urgent CT scan in next 2 weeks. Diabetic team will be in touch soon to do more tests etc & need to see the results of scan

[Hope you get (good) answers soon. As you found out the brown seeded breads etc have just as many carbs as white (same goes for rice pasta etc) Might be a little slower in hitting you but they’re still there. Type ones actually have more food options as they cover their carbs with insulin on the whole rather than avoid them as type 2 need to if they want to manage with diet rather than solely medication.

Quick update....
Had the CT chest & abdomen scan, no sign of results yet! And not heard from referral to diabetic team at hospital

Had really high BG levels last couple of weeks & it’s not diet related - felt out of my head yesterday & today, plus all the usual symptoms but though I was gonna pass out a couple of times.
BG been 18 - 21 average, it got to 26.3 today so went to A&E - place was packed but was seen within 15 minutes!!! (As to 4-6 hours!)
Done loads of tests and now temporarily on Gliclazide

Gonna have to check sugar levels as I’m usually Hyper & the new meds’ can cause Hypos, something I haven’t experienced yet.....

Still losing weight, down to 64kg was 66.5kg last week so c peptide, GAD tests etc need sorting ASAP to see if I have Lada / T 1.5 & course of action

Thanks everyone on here for your time & comments, has helped me.
Only thing I’m struggling with is the emotional side, feel like I could randomly cry, but do now & then when I’m on my own

Update.... Have my appointment to see diabetic team at hospital next week! Hope to finally find out if I’m T2 or T1.5 soon

I’m also now on Gliclazide, what an amazing drug, despite having my first hypo the other day.
The Metformin doesn’t do much but the combination is now working & I’m starting to see single figures BG but still registering up to 15 - better than my recent 28 when I went to A&E last week as had stupidly high sugar levels for over 2 weeks

Saga since July 2018 - weight has sort of stabilised at 64 - 65kg, took until 3 weeks ago for GP’s to take my symptoms seriously & make the referral.
They now begrudgingly have to give me test strips for the BG meter - glad I’ve self funded for a while as they stopped giving me any, but need them to monitor my foods & alert me of potential hypos
