I need help. I love Chinese takeaway but haven't had any since being diagnosed as T1 and starting insulin because I need to count carbs to work out mealtime doses.
Does anyone who is treated with insulin know a way round this, or a way to count carbs in a takeaway?

Trial and error? Personally I generally like the same things from the Chinese/Indian etc. I use the same takeaway too. I just guess this time and adjust for next time. Like everything we don’t cook ourselves or doesn’t have a packet it’s a bit of a lottery in my opinion, if you want that sort of food, you just have to accept bad numbers afterward. (Just my uneducated opinion). I hope you find a perfect way to enjoy your prawn toast :)

i totally agree, let’s face it diabetes is all about finding what works for you as an individual, I’ve had diabetes for 43 years and been trial and “ erroring “ for many many of those years , still can’t say I’ve sussed it totally , but doesn’t stop me trying

Trial and error - split your dose and monitor while you eat and afterward (for a long time afterwards as takeaways are fatty so will take a long time to be absorbed.)

I try to make a half decent guess of carbs in the rice and noodles, prawn crackers, etc.,(either by observation with "carbs and cals" or with a set of scales at least once to know what a given weight looks like) then it's down to guessing about the sauce, though again you can get an idea of what it might contain by looking at supermarket sauces' typical carb contents.

Enjoy :)
