I've wanted a tattoo for a while?

But it's only been about 3 week since my diagnosis...

Is it still okay?

Thanks..

I got a tattoo a week after diagnosis but I would recommend talking to your dsn/gp before hand just in case they have any objections at this stage. I can't see it being a problem but they can give some hood advice on aftercare etc. Always take a sugary snack with you to the tattoo parlour, I find my BG drops every time I have one done my weapon of choice is a Mars bar :) also its highly unlikely to happen but as with all activities that pierce the skin please take extra care and watch out for any sign of infection as the sooner it is treated the better the outcome will be. I'm sure others will be able to shed more light on the subject but thought I'd offer you my snippet of advice

I have three tattoos and mine are all fine have had no problems with my diabetes or I can suggest is that you get somewhere that has been rated and is extremely clean which is basic tattoo ABC relay

I've had tattoos since diagnosed and never had any problems with the healing part either, all was normal!

ThankYou!! I've been told about the infections and the mars bars I got told that there not very good for it? So I got told to have jelly babies

No problem :) I loose quite a bit of blood when being tattooed, I think it has something to do with my hyperthyroid tablets and if I'm in the chair for more than an hour I find jelly babies just don't quiet cut it for me, although midget gems are awesome for chair time lol. I've never had any problems with infection, like I say highly unlikely but still something to watch out for I guess. What are you having done? If you don't mind my asking (I'm really nosey when it comes to tattoos)

Have fun, tattoos these days are totally different to when I had mine. Take a snack, and listen about aftercare, my 19 yr old son has just designed and had his first two done although he's not diabetic the aftercare has changed. Once inked it's like an addiction you want more his have got me thinking again. Plus keep an eye on bloods.
