As someone recently diagnosed I decided not to buy a ticket as had I won, the temptation to eat the lot in one sitting would be too great. Not the most appropriate choice of prize but I guess most raffle ticket purchasers won't have diabetes ?
I thought perhaps a hamper of fruit would have been better but then I thought diabetics could not eat chocolate but have learnt different since reading the info on this site.A prize of lettuce, and broccoli just won't work as well.
People like chocolate, and most people can eat it with no problems.
And a hamper of fruit would not be good for most diabetics as fruit is also full of sugarI thought perhaps a hamper of fruit would have been better but then I thought diabetics could not eat chocolate but have learnt different since reading the info on this site.

I have ceased any sweets, cakes or biscuits as I have yet to be told what type of diabetes I have since the diagnosis a week ago plus I am trying to lose weight. I have a lot to learn.Fruit would go off.
And I also eat a little amount of chocolate. But it would last a long time for me,
Then I'd also give it other people as presents, but eventually, I'd use it.
But, I don't force my diet on other people, so if they can eat chocolate, why not.
Just because I can't, doesn't mean others shouldn't.
Excess is bad, some isn't.

Agree. I admit to buying Tesco's Xmas cards because one of their supported charities is Diabetes UK. Every little helps. Bother, I've fallen for their hype.Perhaps just be grateful that Tescos are doing something positive
