hi, would anyone know what this test is for please? i have received a letter from the gp to take them a wee sample for this test, ive been adopting a you leave me alone ill leave you alone policy so wonder why i would get this request out of the blue, any ideas please?

oh, weird they told me they are ignoring them lol oh well, thanks mate

It's a normal screening test, you should have it done yearly.
Your kidneys act as a sieve, if the 'holes' in the sieve become larger they let through larger particles.
Microalbuminuria are tiny particles of protein, if they appear in your urine then it can be a sign that the kidney isn't filtering as well as it should

Think its testing for protein in urine as an indicator of kidney function. My cynical side says it's just another target that gps get paid for.i recently had to see my gp after a car accident and she kept banging on about "the tests we have to do to diabetics" despite the fact that a) I was there about whiplash / back injury and b) my diabetes is managed by the hospital consultant. When I questioned what this one of the tests was for,she didn't know despite the fact that she's supposedly the diabetes specialist in the practice
